His belief in me changed my life
Dr. Hamilton changed my life due to his belief and faith in me, even when I did not have it myself. Having been academically dismissed (due to unforeseen circumstances) from university after my first year, it solidified my belief of unworthiness, of not being smart enough or good enough. But Dr. Hamilton (at the time was the Director of Research at FIU later became the Assistant Dean of College of Medicine) believed so much in me, he vouched for my reinstatement. Because of Dr. Hamilton’s compassion and empathy not only did I graduate school, I continuously made Dean’s list and secured a position at the fortune 1 company. Years later I am now changing career paths, looking towards medical school, and every time the thoughts of doubt creep in I remember Dr. Hamilton’s unwavering confidence in me and continue to push forward. I am forever grateful to Dr. Hamilton for all he has done for me and continues to do. He truly is a one in a lifetime person. I continue to grow because of his belief in me, more than a decade ago (that is the kind of impact he’s had on me).
